But you're using Double Dragon to pay energy costs regardless, and Manaphy-EX alongside it even gives it free retreat just for having Energy in general. If someone were to drop Garbodor for a Huntail line, they could pretty much mimic Darkrai-EX / Giratina-EX, only with better retreat options...

I doubt that will be the case when you have so many decks that run Max Elixir religiously in Standard.
