So Isshu/Unova is based on America, instead of being based on a real region of Japan, so it they went and Americanized the name? I never looked at it that way.... I suppose that makes sense, and it really would be difficult to romanize "Isshu," but what does the meaning of Unova "one new" have...

I personally have no problem with the names of the Pokemon (I mean, Tepig is kind of not what we were expecting, and Oshawott is a bit strange, but we'll get used to them.) What I don't get, however, is the region's name change. They only romanized the names of all the other regions, but here...
