Well what do you guys think?Cofagrigus's high damage output combined with cards like Sableye and junkarm which can keep him hitting hard could make for an intresting deck.Of course you would need cards like switch,Darkrai EX,and Dodrio to keep switching between the two and Cofagrigus's frailness could bring the deck down I think the high damage output could put you in a prize exchange which should let you win because you have better recovery since you use stage 1's.So now tell me what you think about Cofagrigus and if you think he could do good in the format.

Does anybody know if this attack can be used if your opponent has Vileplume out? Vileplume's Poke-Body prevents exactly what this attack says to do, but some attacks have been able to bypass some stuff like this in the past. That's what will largely determine its success. Being able to OHKO anything in google's deck or Gothitelle for a DCE is amazing. The card's not great against other stuff, though. Too little HP.

I think it will still work because they're not going into play, just like if you were discarding tools from juniper or sage's under trainer lock.

Yeah, that makes sense. Although Sage and Juniper don't directly say to discard Trainers. Has there been a card like this in the past? If so, I could ask in the rules forum.

I don't necessarily like Sableye with N and Judge in the format. In a price race, throwing a 60HP basic in the active position as a guaranteed prize really hurts. It should be a 1-of at best.

This would be great to combat against Mewtwo EX, especially in a deck with a lot of items (Zekrom EX will have evolite/rocky helmet). I think that Junk arm is much better than Saybelye as it is an easy prize. So maybe a Zekrom EX deck would use this as a tech working well with Eeletrik (junk arm discards the energy). To summarise this will only be used as a tech for Mewtwo EX in a few decks.

Vileplume/Gothitelle states no player can ''play'' any trainer/item cards from his/her hand, and considering Cofagrigus ''discards'' the tools, they essentially never ''enter play''. Therefore, even while under Trainer/Item lock, Cofagrigus is able to discard the tools.

To stay on topic, I think Cofagrigus isn't worth it. You'll need to have at least 2 tools in your hand to have a decent enough damage output, and Cofagrigus' 100HP is nothing to write home about. Especially if you factor in the x2 {D} weakness, which is exactly the type Cofagrigus' set focusses on...

In short; nice/decent attack, but the fact it's a stage 1 and has sub-par stats make it niche at best.

Actually:

Sableye - Darkness - HP70
Basic Pokémon

[C] Confuse Ray 10
Flip a coin. If Heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Confused.

[D] Junk Hunt
Put two Item cards from your discard pile into your hand.

^That's pretty much the same thing...

Cofagrigus looks alright at first, but considering it's a Stage 1 with 100 HP that attacks for either 2 energy or one special energy, and that you'd need 3 Tools in your hand to even have a decent damage output... it gets sort of clunky. Let's say you're running 12 Tools total, which isn't even that much. Four Junk Arm, 4-4 Cofagrigus, 4 DCE, 6 P, and you're already at 34 cards with a bare minimum. I just don't see it.

You will be able to run 16 because rocky helmet, eviolite, exp share, and dark claw but it is still not that good.

It isn't, actually. The current definition of Trainer encompasses Items, Supporters, and Stadiums.

In any case...he's correct; Sableye picks up 2 Item (Goods) cards from the discard pile, not 2 Trainer cards.
