OK, so I was looking through my Platinum cards when I came across this awesome card. I've not actually seen it used before, and I can't see why. Time Aura is a great lock to stop the opponent from evolving and buy time whilst you prepare for a Metal Burn.

The thing is, after a Metal Burn, you need to discard all Steel Energies attached to Dialga. I was trying to think of a way to overcome that and I'm sure there's a way. If you attached 2 Rainbow Energies to him, would you have to discard them if you were using them as Steel Energies? If not, are there any other ways to keep Metal Burning without penalties? If this card was played right, it could be a dangerous weapon.

I am also aware that there may be an old thread about this, but I couldn't find it, so my apologies if this is a repeat.
 
Rainbow energies, while in play, count as all types. Even if you didn't need the rainbow energies, you would have to discard them.
 
Ok, thanks. Does anyone know any Pokemon that recover steel energy? I know that Conductive Quarry would help out and so would energy restore, but if I decide to make a deck of it I need more Pokemon, maybe a Steelix prime and some others that let me attach energies quickly?

The problem is that they can just evolve on the bench, ruining your strategy. And don't even get me started on the SP matchup...
