Ruling Entei Ex Grand Flame

I have a question on the Grand Flame.

Attach a Fire Energy card from your discard pile to one of your bench Pokemon.

Can you take a Special energy (Prism or Blend) from the discard pile?
I heard somewhere that special energy cards have no defined type while in the discard pile, if that is true you can't take one.

You cannot take Prism Energy or Blend Energy out of the discard pile.

This is correct. Something like Prism Energy says "while attatched to a basic Pokémon this card provides every type of energy..." so while in the discard pile, Prism would provide {C} energy, not a {R} energy, so it cannot be attatched by Entei EX's grand flame attack.
