Not sure if anyone follows the REAL sport of wrestling, at the college, youth or high school level, but right around now is when every state is having their regionals and state tournaments at the high school level.
Most often if you place top 4 at your regionals, you advance to state the next week.
Now here is where I go more personal.
I have been wrestling for about 2 full school years. I did horrible before this year. This year I picked up the pace and dropped to a lower weight class and so far have had a record of around 30-5.
Today was the first day of our regionals tournament (2 regionals in the state, and regionals are 2 day tournies)
I decided to go up 1 weight class as I hated having to cut(lose) weight for the lower weight class. Because I bumped up and had not wrestled this weight before, I was not seeded in the bracket. The bracket is a 16 man bracket and they seed who they believe are top 6.
Needless to say... I beat the #3 seed in the quarter-finals, the #2 seed in the semi-finals (he WAS also #3 in the entire state).
I am now in the finals (top 2) and will be wrestling the #1 Seed/#1 in the state.
by being in the finals, I automatically have qualified for state and will be 1 of the top 4 seeds at state.
If, wait, WHEN I beat the #1 seed tonight (6PM match on saturday), I will be seeded #1 heading into the state tournament and will be ranked #1 in the state. I am essentially a "no-namer" making a run for the state title.
I could not be more estatic.
PS. Sorry to brag, but I am overjoyed with myself.
