I'm trying to get back into the TCG. I want to start afresh, as my Dialtiodon deck is smouldering somewhere on the winds.

Any suggestions for which box I should buy, which cards to try and get and deck suggestions in general?
 
I'd suggest either Platinum or Stormfront depending on what type of deck you want to build. If you want an SP deck go for Platinum, but a stage 2 or 1 deck is better in SF. I'd say go after Gengars from SF or Vileplumes from UD as they're somewhat cheap (at least in my area) and are very competitive. You could also look at Gyarados SF, Machamp SF, Kingdra LA an Kingdra Prime, T-tar Prime, Steelix Prime, and Scizor Prime for non SP decks. SP's are mainly in Platinum and Rising Rivals. I'd go with Platinum as a box and a Garchomp tin from SV. That way you can get Garchomp C Lv. X and hopefully the SP engine which consists of,
4 Cyrus's Conspiracy
4 Poketurn
3-4 Energy Gain
3-4 Power Spray
2-3 Sp Radar
1-2 Aaron's Collection

Cards for Sp that are good are Garchomp C Lv. X, Luxray GL Lv. X (good luck finding one below 60 dollars), Blaziken FB Lv. X, Dialga G Lv. X, Palkia G Lv. X, Crobat G, Brongzong G, and Dragonite FB.
 
If you are a serious TCG player, then get Platinum.

And whastever you do, DO NOT GET TRIUMPHANT!!! The set is worthless. Aside from Gengar and Machamp, it is devoid of good cards for a deck. Anything over Truimphant.
 
^Just beacuse it doesn't have Lost World like everyone uncreative wanted, doesn't mean it's a bad set. It's way better than 3/4 the legal sets out there; Rising Rivals, Supreme Victors, Arceus, Undaunted...Truimphant is one of the best boxes out there.

Those sets you bashed did not tons of EXTREME hype like Truimphant did. Platinum is also way better, Shaymin Lv X (+40 HP one), Dialga G Lv X, Palkia G Lv X, Broken Time Space, Pretty much most of all SP (except LuxChomp) Pokemon and Trainers. Best box by far. Triumphant cannot measure up and that set has been overhyped to the heavens. Only around 7 notable cards that can work is not good enough. Passing up Platinuim in flavor for Triumphant is a HUGE mistake.
 
HS:Triumphant has some really nice Cards. even if it not good for some players. the Cards have very nice artwork and will always be good for collectors. i would get Triumphant. its a New Set. and come next year, if the format changes again,and with the new BW set coming, we won't even know if Platinum will still be playable in Official Tournaments.

don't get me wrong, Platinum is a really good set, i got some really good cards pulls from a booster in the Shiny Suicune Tin, I guess i just prefer to have Newer released cards than older cards.
 
Ok. Platinum is a general idea, with maybe Gengar Prime.

I may make a Electric/Poison deck as yet...

Or a fighting/Electric, as I went to a league with my mates yesterday to watch them play, and the winner had a deck like that.
 
@icyFREEZEdragon, Excuse me? Did I really bash those sets? No, I didn't. I was simply stating that Triumphant is better. I never said it was better than Platinum either, if you even noticed Platinum wasn't on the list, but I guess you were too inraged and you wanted to babble on about Platinum. Even though it's rotated next year. K, gotchya.

@mlouden, Give it up with Luxray and please find something original. I don't copy people's tests in school and I'm sure the heck not going to copy a deck. Also, considering you only get 2-3 Lv. X's and six of them are complete crud om Rising Rivals. May I also mention Luxray is over $70.00 and you only pull one in every three booster boxes?
 
i've been Just Collecting Cards right now. it would have been nice if i could go to Pre-Releases to get an Early Start on Triumphant. i don't even know what Lost World is about. i'm just glad we got Celebi and Mew Prime.

i want the Legends too. because i haven't pulled any yet.
 
Ok, Lost Zone is a place where your cards go if a card says they go there. You put the card going to the Lost Zone to the side of your game, and you can't ever get those cards back.

On the other hand, a Lost World Stadium states that if either player has six or more Pokemon in the Lost Zone that player may declare him or herself as the winner. If you play that with Mew Prime, it's so broken.

Right... I may or may not continue with that.

I bought both of those Espeon/Umbreon decks today, to see how they were in play. They were all right, but Espeon side won. I'm considering taking energies out.
 
Lost Zone Looks Scary and if they did cut Lost world i can sure see why it would make any game an easy win, which is taking out the suspense in the entire Game.
 
The Lost World is really good. I went to another league today, and someone who won used the Lost Worpd Stadium. They also had Mew Prime...
 
Lost World isn't coming in this set, so I wouldn't start to make a deck around it until it's released as either a Promo or in an upcoming set.
