Soooooo... I was planning on trying to build a Golisopod GX deck without tapu lele back when that thing was around 5 or six dollars. Now that it's price has doubled, I am in need of a new deck to consider. I have had my eye on tapu koko lists, but I'm not really sure where to go with it.

  • Pokemon - 11
  • 4 - Tapu Koko-GX
  • 4 - Tapu Lele - GX
  • 3 - Tapu Koko (PR)

  • Trainers - 36
  • 4 - Professor Sycamore
  • 4 - Acerola
  • 4 - N
  • 4 - Guzma
  • 1 - Skyla
  • 4 - Aether Paradise Conservation Area
  • 4 - Max Elixir
  • 4 - Ultra Ball
  • 3 - Fighting Fury Belt
  • 2 - Field Blower
  • 1 - Rescue Stretcher
  • 1 - Energy Recycler

  • Energy - 13
  • 13 - Lightning Energy
That is a list from another thread. I cannot afford Lele unfortunately

You don't need Lele for a Koko GX deck, and believe it or not, you don't need Koko Promo for a Koko deck. Let me show you:

Pokemon: 9
Tapu Koko GX-4
Jolteon EX-1
Raichu-3
Carbink (Energy Guard)-1

Stadiums- Aether Paradise- 3

Supporters: 14
Sycamore-4
N-2
Guzma-2
Acerola-4
Pokemon Fan Club-2

Items: 20
Max Elixir-4
Fighting Fury Belt-4
Super Scoop Up-4
Puzzle of Time-4
Field Blower-2
Rescue Stretcher-2

Lightning Energy-14

It really doesn't need Lele. You run consistent Supporter lines, and have no need for Bridgette. Max Elixirs and Jolteon EX are the only price points here, just note that you can't run this without Max Elixir as the point of the deck is to attack turn 2 with Koko and never let up from there.

Would the deck be improved with a koko promo? I do own one of them. Thanks for the sans lele list.

Hmm, Tapu Koko eh? Tapu Koko from the looks of it is going to have zero place in this rotation, theres a little warning there. It's a fast deck, for sure, as far as Pokemon go, I suggest this line-up

4x Tapu Koko GX
1x Tapu Lele GX
4x Tapu Koko (Flying Flip)
1x Jolteon EX
2x Raikou (Thunder Lance)

And for a supporter suggestion, i highly suggest Ninja Boy, so you can in a bad situation swap out a damaged koko in the active, with a koko from your deck, or maybe even a Raikou, to keep the damage going, and Pokemon healthy.

Ninja boy doesnt heal the damage... As far as koko's place in rotation, that is to be seen after rotation actually happens.

Did i say heal damage, oops lol, I just meant, to switch out with a Raikou or Jolteon, sorry about that, was using healthy as an exaggeration, now I look like some kind of ptcg noob who doesn't know what he's talking about, ha ha. :D

Well you said keep your pokemon healthy.

I really don't think the Koko Promo goes in here and here is why. First the energy doesn't match up, you don't want to run the GX with Double Colorless, and you don't want to run the promo without. Next think about where the Promo is useful, it's a retreat outlet and it helps push things like Ninetales with 160 damage attacks into OHKO range, while the GX is very unlikely to OHKO, without using the GX attack, but very likely to 2 shot. It's use as a retreat outlet, for something like Guzma with something like Golisopod is another one of it's uses, but the point here is to be cycling the GX. You already have something like Raikou to make it a 7 prize game, so you gain no value there. This is actually a very unique occurrence, because normally the Baby card synergies with it's Ultra rare i.e. Yveltals, Volcanions.

To respond to this, I will admit that it is not the forerunner of the meta, and it is largely rogue, but it's a great response to all these slow decks currently in the format. Once you build a deck that always swings turn to the only thing that keeps pace with it currently is Drampa, and you have FFB and stadium that need to be countered in order for Drampa to OHKO, and it needs its choice band and it's own stadium to have been out, so even it should be slower. 130 twice is an unavoidable 2HKO, perhaps only a lucky Tapu Bulu, Vikavolt deck would survive those first 2 turns. With fast decks like Vespiquen, and Rayquaza, or any Forest nonsense, out of Standard it seems to be about powerful mid-late games, Gardevoir, Garbodor, Golisopod, and Ninetales showing at worlds. If this deck is properly made and executed Gardevoir will lose a line or 2 before it setups, and then a setup line to the GX attack. This should leave about 2 prizes to take, and from there 2HKO's should be fine. It is all about consistently, so once those are ironed about it's all about swinging turn 2 and never letting up. And it doesn't mind going second as with 2 max elixir hits it could swing right then and there and KO any pesky basic setup pokemon i.e Yveltal, Xerneas, Vulpix, or basics of stage 2's.

Sshould've done my math before i said that, lol! Sorry AZMX, if i made you feel bad ;) It's definiteley a good deck

I just made a deck in the garage about this, it's by me and it's fairly recent. Check it out if you wish. Anyway, an idea with Koko that I use is running it with Baby Drampa, for its amass attack. Attach to Drampa, use amass, attach again next turn, and Koko Aero Trail and wham. The deck usually gets set up turn 2 or 3.

4Tapu Koko GX
3 Drampa GX

2 Random Reciever (Lele Compensation, quality: 5/10)
4 Super Scoop Up
4 Max Elixir
4 Ultra Ball
4 Fighting Fury Belt
2 Field Blower
1 Super Rod

4 Shauna (N compensation, quality: 6.5/10
4 Sycamore
3 Acerola
3 Guzma
1 Lillie (Not necessary)
1 Pokémon Fan Club (even though I don't have Lele to seek it out, it really comes in handy anyway)

4 Aether Paradise

12 (L) energy

That's just the list I'm using. It is a cheap deck, besides maybe the Fighting Fury Belts.
The strategy is to amass and attach, Aero Trail, and you are pretty much set. With a FFB and Aether Paradise in play, they need a 240 to OHKO you, your GX attack wins against Gardevoir and Darkrai decks, but this deck loses to Garbodor automatically.
If you're looking for cheap, Salazzle GX might not be bad. My buddy plays it with a 18/20 live win rate. I have a list on that list too, not too recently. I'd still go with Koko Loco GX deck, however.
Hope this helps!
