I couldn't find any better place to post this topic.

My friends and I recently got back into TCG and i've always been wondering if you can play "legendary" basic pokemons as your first active pokemon?

Or there is no such thing as "legendary" pokemon, it's just basic types?

example, let's take zekrom or reshiram in BW packs, can they placed as you first active pokemon during your first turn? i've seen videos where people use reshiphlosion decks and reshiram was their first active pokemon when they start off.

your help is greatly appreciated!

You're lucky I'm a Professor lol. You can start with Zekrom/Reshiram as your first Basic. Nothing on the card says you can't, it's just like any other Basic like Pikachu/Squirtle/etc (says Basic on the card itself).

You might be confused with the Legend mechanic that first showed up in HG/SS (these actually have Legend on the card as well). These special cards can only be put on the Bench but not during setup and you need both halves in your hand. Examples of these are Entei Suicune Legend from Unleashed and Rayquaza Deoxys Legend from Undaunted.

dmaster out.
