As Guardians Rising added good cards to the meta, some people went and revisited Mega Gardevoir-EX. It got some new decks from this set and I decided to make a new Mega Gardevoir list of my own. I've been experimenting with the new techs and testing them. Here is my current list.
Pokémon - 17
2 Hoopa EX AOR
1 Oricorio (Vital Dance) GUR
1 Sudowoodo GUR
4 Gardevoir EX PCL
3 M Gardevoir EX STS
2 Dragonite EX EVO
4 Shaymin EX ROS
Trainer - 37
3 Sky Field
1 Brock's Grit
2 Hex Maniac
1 Lysandre
2 N
3 Professor Sycamore
2 Skyla
3 Escape Rope
4 Gardevoir Spirit Link
3 Mega Turbo
2 Super Rod
3 Trainers' Mail
4 Ultra Ball
4 VS Seeker
Energy - 6
6 Fairy Energy
Here are the new techs:
Oricorio with Vital Dance: This Ability searches out 2 Basic Energy from my deck, which means I can attach one and then discard the other one for a Mega Turbo later on. It can be reused with Dragonite EX's Ability and with Pokémon recovering cards after having been discarded. Due to this, I can run a very low Energy count (I saw a list that played five somewhere online but I think this is too few).
Sudowoodo: Its Roadblock Ability makes it so that my opponent cannot take advantage of my Sky Field, being stuck at 4 Benched Pokémon. This prevents the Mega Rayquaza matchup from being an auto-loss and greatly helps against Raichu. Also, if my opponent were to Knock it Out, I simply could bring it back with Dragonite EX, Super Rod or Brock's Grit (followed by Ultra Ball) come my turn.
Rattata EVO and Hawlucha STS still are viable options, I just did not find room for them.
This deck is decent against Energy denial due to the two-Energy attack and three Mega Turbo (my experience with Mega Gardevoir STS has shown me that two is too few). It can do well against Garbodor if you do not get to 9 Items in your discard pile. You still can get things done without playing them after you discarded you first Pokémon, as you can bring them back and refill your Bench with Dragonite EX and Brock's Grit, as well as use Abilities to get more cards and Basic Energy into your hand.
I chose to play a second Hex Maniac over a second Lysandre because this deck has a number of Supporterless turns and locking Abilities is vital against Greninja BREAK, Lycanroc GX and other decks. I also run three Escape Rope so making my opponent switch is already covered.
What would you add in a Mega Gardevoir deck now that Guardians Rising is legal? I will take this list to a tournament and I will see if it works against the new meta. Hopefully I won't run into Solgaleo/Metagross. Remember players, Garbodor GUR is evil, and I will see you next time for another deck list.
