The idea of this tournament is to have a meta-free environment. How do we do this? We play with a set that hasn't been released yet. Think about it: Every creation is your own, you will have a created a fantastic rogue for yourself, which might very well triumph over everyone else, and guess what? You thought of it all yourself!

For those not in the know, Platinum is the next set coming out in English. It's cards are comprised of the Japanese set I've given a link to above, and it also includes Shaymin Lv X Land Forme, Miasma Valley, Dialga (both versions) and Giratina (both versions) from Intense Fight in the Destroyed Sky, which was the Japanese equivalent to our Stormfront. The cards I have just mentioned were saved for Platinum release and thus weren't in SF.

So basically this is a normal Redshark tournament, but you have a to make a Platinum-based deck. Please, don't play Kingdra and just throw in a Shaymin Lv X as a filler, a Platinum pokemon has to be a major focus, or an important tech.

But Ariadosguy, we don't even have the cards yet! Won't we have to proxy?

Unfortunately, yes we will. However, I think personally that playing with new cards in a 100% rogue environment is well worth it. Remember, confirm what cards you're proxying for what with your opponent before-hand. Try to use a card that has the same name or is very similar to the card you're proxying for. For example, if I wanted to use the GC Blastoise, I would use the SW Blastoise as a proxy, because they have the same name and type. Just make it 100% sure with your opponent which cards are which before you play. Maybe even quiz your opponent on them. I don't know. You're all a smart bunch of people.

I'll see if enough people are interested, then this might happen.

Note: Do NOT sign up unless you are confident that you will not drop out. This can stuff up the pairings, and is generally disruptive. However, if you need to drop out, feel free to PM me. No point making you feel uncomfortable about dropping out.

Hey Aria. Why don't we use BET cards too? For more variety.

RE: Tournament WITHOUT a Metagame - Platinum Proxying tournament - Interested? Sign up.

I will sign up if someone can help me "proxy" redshark or w/e... lol

I have absolutely no idea how to do any of that. xD

But yeah, I will sign up if someone is willing to guide me through that~ lol

While that sounds like a good idea...

...

Okay, I guess it's a good idea. However, I wanted this to be a precursor to the release of Platinum specifically. More importantly though, it's less madness (Sparta!) to have to proxy cards from two different sets, let alone one. I want to make the amount of proxy cards as low as possible (don't change your deck to contain less proxies, though! Go nuts!), if you know what I mean.

Kurama, there IS a system of Redshark that lets you create your own cards, however I won't be allowing it (unless there is major uproar - I'm open to thoughts) because of 2 reasons:

1) People might copy the translations down wrong, and unless the other player is willing to check with the actual translations before every match (which would make the whole card-making pointless), a mis-copy (such as not mentioning that Aqua Launcher could not be used the next turn, for example) could give one player an edge that they otherwise should not have had.

2) Can you REALLY be bothered? Okay, that's not a reason, but unless you absolutely disagree with me 100% on that first note, I don't think anyone can be bothered making cards.

Cool, it looks like this is gonna get going. I'll keep sign-ups open for maybe a week... We'll see.

I actually love making cards~

My problem is, is that to be perfectly honest, I do not know what "proxying" is... I am not bothered by anything, I was just expressing that I will probably need some sort of guidance on this subject~

Is proxying translating the Japanese versions of cards into english custom cards on RedShark? lol (I really have no clue...lol. I am probably completely incorrect... I think I will be quiet now...)

But yes, I definetly would like to participate in anything involving the TCG~ lol

RE: Tournament WITHOUT a Metagame - Platinum Proxying tournament - Interested? Sign up.

Oh, nono, that's absolutely fine to ask a question.

Proxying is generally used in real life, where cheapskates (like me) don't have, say, a real moonlight Stadium, so they pretend that a Conductive Quarry is a Moonlight Stadium or whatever.

In Redshark, this means pretending a SW Blastoise is a GC Blastoise, etc.

RE: Tournament WITHOUT a Metagame - Platinum Proxying tournament - Interested? Sign up.

Just to add in the discussion, I believe you cannot battle someone online with made up cards. Proxies must be used if that's the case.

Ok, so let me make sure I fully understand then~

We have to look at the list of Japanese translated cards on the link provided, and create a deck based on a set from that series? And then we have to create substitutes for those cards in RedShark by using previous versions of the same pokemon? And at the beginning of the match, you just let your opponent know what cards equal what? And your opponent does the same?

For all but the last two questions, you're right. I would show the opponent my translation before the game for convenience, though you could show them during the game for the element of surprise.

Hey Aria, need we stick to the same deck throughout the tourney?

RE: Tournament WITHOUT a Metagame - Platinum Proxying tournament - Interested? Sign up.

I am not 100% sure if we will stick through with the same decks ALL the way through. I was thinking of perhaps sticking with the same deck for most of the tourney, and then the final four get to change their deck if they wish.

It's either that or playing the same deck the whole way through... Does anybody have any opinions?

IF YOU NEED ANY PRACTISE, FEEL ABSOLUTELY FREE TO PLAY A TEST GAME AGAINST ME ON REDSHARK

Heh, I'll be your last person. Count me in, it'll be a good chance to test out some of the new cards.

Hmmm. 8 was enough, however I cannot deny julian99janssen a spot, but I want an even number, so I'll wait 24 hours. If nobody else joins, then we'll have to play with 9. But that's okay.
