I was just wondering, what priveleges do these gold stars net you? Because it must be good if people try hard to post a lot.

i never really thought about it???  hmmm maybe it's just like pride or something and that's why you want ot have more stars?  I just kinda don't care anymore about that type of stuff though.  so whatever.:p

Arcanine out.

that's when you are a moderator, I have 4 stars, and I can't delete your posts (I would want to, just kidding:p)

The gold stars simply denote postcounts. Strategists, mods, and site adminstrators get extra stars. In the big scheme of things, postcounts and stars do not seem all that significant, since you can generally tell how reputable a person is by looking at the content of their posts.

I don't think that there are any privilages that people can earn. For the most part, it would appear as though you get just about everything up front. Unlimited attachment space, custom avatars, ability to rate users, give reputation (which I rarely use, since I don't care so much about it), report posts, and unlimited amounts of posts. All of these privilages are pretty nice, compared to other forums (which have limits on postcounts, requires earning privilages with higher postcounts/reputation/karma, and only a limited selection of avatars/sigs).

Mods get the ability to delete, move, and edit other people's posts. Their job is to enforce the boundaries of the forum; it requires a long-term commitment, and often times, difficult decisions (this is what I know so far). Considering that their rights can be badly abused in the hands of a wrong person, only site administrators (WPM, so far) can appoint mods. I don't know why some users want to become mods, other than to be helpful. For me, I have no interest in becoming a mod or admin whatsoever, since I feel that my best role in the community is to voice my opinion, ask for other peoples' opinions, and give/take advice to/from others.

If anything, I feel there may be a little bit too many privilages. I don't really think that unlimited attachment space is necessary, since I delete outdated attachments anyway. Perhaps 100 - 500 MB per user would be sufficient. I see the reputation system and user rating system as being something that can be abused, even though it is nice to have around.

This is just how I feel though. Do you guys feel as though there are enough privilages, or too many?

If anyone knows something about this site that contradicts something that I said, please correct me, since I don't want to be giving out misleading information.

its seems different for everyone tho.....really.
(has the custom usernames changed too? i mean from before.)

They're just for show. I'll probably get rid of them when I have the time to.

You need 150 posts to get 3 stars 2 is 50 and 4 is 250 I think.:) WPM don't get rid of them because they kind of go with the posting system and I like that.:)

wait....how come some ppl still have *s??? it doesn't look right.
(i agree, is still want *s, just to see how im doing.)

Hmmm, looks like all normal members dont have any stars anymore. I dont see why they're so important to people. They sort of encourage spam a little since people try to reach the next star lvl by posting more, which can be a good thing or a bad thing.

I liked the stars because it made it sand out better and it looked cool and I don't think it encourages spam it is the persons choice to spam or not and I think those who spam should loose the stars if they spam 3 times and those who don't spam (like me) should have the stars. I think that is the way it should be because it feels like that we have lost something and it does not look good with no stars.:(:)

Oh, boo hoo.. -_-

Stars do nothing. Therefore, there's no point in wanting them, no? Your post counts are still displayed anyways ¬¬

(and no offence, xxashxx, but you do spam, sometimes..)

I agree. I don't think the stars are all that significant. Number of posts alone has no meaning. A person can have 100 thought-out posts, compared to a person who has 1000 one-line posts that have little (if even relevant) information, and the person with the 100 posts will stand out better. You simply cannot judge a person by the number of posts that they have. I try to put careful thought into my posts. If anything, my posts may be so long that people skip over them because they have too many words. I'm still trying to work on that...

I actually think your posts are quite good DocRobot. Practically everyone of them I have seen have some point to them and arent just pointless 1 line spam. You always put thought into them, despite them being long I always read them since reading something good and long is better than reading something poitless and short :D

Sorry I did not realize it and I thought they were good posts and I thought you guys would like them. That is why I posted them. Like the beach one I thought you would like it that is why I posted it and I don't recall the rest of them but let's not go there and lets just forget about it because they are long gone and done.:) Thanks for telling me about it though because I did not even realize it.:)
