Ruling Sleep Staus

Hello

Me and my friend were recently playing a game (which I won in the end ) and we were wondering what the rules were regarding sleep status.

I placed my hoothoot (an awesome card ) and used hypnosis, I then ended my turn, the problem was we didn't know whether he was allowed to flip a coin in between turns immediately after I had put him to sleep, I said he was and he woke up and killed my poor hoothoot.

Thanks for any and all help...

tl;dr How does the sleep condition work?

You flip a coin in between each turn, if Tails you stay asleep (you can't attack or retreat while asleep) and if heads you wake up. Once you flip one heads you are cured of the sleep.
