The next morning, the gang got up early and headed into Saffron.
"Wow," said Shadow, "This town is huge!"
"Yeah, don't get too excited." said Jay.
"Yeah," said Max, "SAbrina's a teenage witch if you ask me."
"Well," said Shadow, "LEt's get the battle over with. after all, we've only gotten five badges, and there's still three more regions, the Frontier, and mount Battle ahead of us."
they went to the gym. but, i was locked!
"WHAT?" they asked in unison.
"Hey," said a girls voice.
they turned around, it was Sabrina.
"Sabrina," said MAx, "What's going on? you never close the gym."
"The Dojo sued Saffron to be the official gym."
"What?" asked Jay, "Those guys can't battle worth a Magikarp! How can they be Gym Leaders?"
"Maybe you should Challenge them Sabrina!" said Shadow.
"Yeah," said Max, "After all, they use Fighting Pokémon, and you own Psychic and Ghost types. Easy victory!"
"I wish." said Sabrina, "Part of the agreement was i can't battle the gym for ownership."
"I can!" said Max.
"What?"
"Yeah, i'll battle them for ownership of the gym, and then sign it over to you, and then you can battle us for the Marsh Badge!"
"Fine. Let's go."
inside the Fighting Dojo....
the gang and Sabrina walked into the Dojo. the new leader, Karate MAster Kenji, came up to them, and said, "Sabrina, you know full well you can't battle here!"
"She's not here to battle." said Max, "I am. And not for a badge, but for gym ownership of Saffron City!"
"What? But Max, why?"
"BEcause i hate when people like you hold a grudge. and quite honestly, you never actually beat Sabrina for the gym. so let's Battle!"
MAx opened his PokeGear, and pressed a button. and small, POkeBall teleporter came out of it. he called Mr. Stone, and Said, "Hi Mr. Stone, give me Espeon, Swellow, and Pidgetto for my Abra, Totodile, and Lairon."
Mr Stone transported the request, and MAx said, "Two on two. Six Pokemon. First to run out loses."
A black belt refed the match. "BEGIN!" he yelled.
"Machamp, Poliwrath, go!" said Kenji
"Swellow, Charizard, go!" said Max.
"Poliwrath, Hydro Pump!"
Just as Poliwrath powered up, Max said, "Swellow, Quick attack!"
Swellow nailed Poiwrath hard, and then Max said, "Charizad, Swellow, Sky Attack!"
The duo flew into the air, then came down to ko the opponents.
"Return!" said Kenji, "Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, go! Dynamic Punch and Hi-Jump Kick!"
Hitmonlee knocked Swellow right to the ground, and Hitmonchan nailed Charizard square in the jaw. they fell to the ground and were koed.
"Return." said Max, "Alright, Furret, Espeon, go! Psychic, Ice Beam, NOW!"
Espeon used psychic on hitmonlee, knocking him out, but Hitmonchan punched through the ice, and used Mach Punch on furret, then came around behind Espeon, and Comet Punched him!
"Return, hitmonlee," said Kenji, "Go Hitmontop!"
"NIdoking, Pidgetto," said Max, "Go!"
"Triple Kick and Comet Punch!"
"Nidoking, Stop them!"
Nidoking grabbed Hitmontop by the leg as he spinned toward him, and Seismic Tossed him into the wall, but Hitmonchan nailed Nidoking Hard.
"Return, Hitmontop," said Kenji, "Go, BLAZIKEN!"
"Pidgeotto," said MAx, "Wing attack!"
"Blaze Kick!"
Blaziken nailed Pidgeotto to the ground. it wasnt Knocked out, but was badly hurt.
"Sky Uppercut and Focus Punch Pidgetto!" said Kenji.
"Nidoking," said Max, "Protect Pidgeotto!"
Nidking Jumped in the way, and was knocked hard by the two attacks. nidoking was not in a good mood, he hated failing.
"Flamethrower and Ice Punch," said Kenji, "ON pidgeotto!"
Nidoking Got up, and took the continuous hits. Nidoking was close to being knocked out, and Kenji said, "Your nidoking may be strong, no doubt, but he is no match for me!"
Pidgeotto looked at Nidoking. Nidoking had changed a lot since when Max had first started. The two Pokemon were in his first team, and Nidoking had always picked on Pidgeotto. But now, here he was, protecting him of his own will. Pidgeotto began to glow.
"What?" asked Max.
"He's evolving!" yelled Sabrina.
"Alright!" said Shadow and Jay.
The white silouette grew, and when the light faded, a Pidgeot stood in place of Pidgeotto.
It instantly flew to Nidoking's side, and Sky Attacked Blaziken. then, it used Steel Wing on Hitmonchan. they were both knocked out.
"WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?" said Kenji in disbelief.
"The gym is mine." said Max, "And i give it to Sabrina."
that evening, Sabrina went to the gym to get things ready, while the gang went to a park. Max had out Swellow, Pidgeot, and Espeon. he said goodbye to them, and transported them back.
Shadow was sleeping on a bench. then, she sat up, screaming!
"What is it?" asked Jay.
"Guys," she said, "there is something i've got to tell you."
a few minutes later....
"PSYCHIC?!?!?!?!?!?!?!" Max and Jay yelled in unison.
"Only at night." said Shadow, "And they're visions, i can't see whatever i want. but what i just saw was not good. we were in the final match, and then, total darkness."
"what does that mean?" asked Jay.
"Something really bad. usually total and pure evil triumphing over us."
"You know what that means?" said Max.
"What?"
"We're going to that tournament, but i garentee it wont happen like that. i have a feeling you have this power to change the future. now, we can be prepared."

There was no ref. That was because Sabrina ran the gym be herself, no one else was ever there.
"Let's begin!" she said, "Alakazam, Haunter, Gardevoir, GO!!!!"
"Jolteon, go!" said Shadow.
"Shiftry, c'mon out!" said Jay.
"Totodile, let's go!" said Max.
Sabrina didnt talk. she communicated telepathically with her Pokemon.
Gardevoir and Haunter began to use Hypnosis, but Shifty, immune to Psychic moves, Blocked it from Jolteon and Totodile.
"Shifty, Faint Attack!"
"Pin Missle Jolteon!"
"Crunch!"
Shiftry dissappeared and Jolteon shot out missles at Gardevoir.
Totodile used Crunch, one of the strongest Dark-Type moves on Haunter.
Then, Shiftry came out of nowhere and nailed Alakazam.
the opponents were weakened, but not down.
"We just used three power moves on them," said Shadow, "But theyre not down yet! Jolteon, Thunder!"
"Shiftry," said Jay, "Solarbeam!"
"Totodile," said MAx, "HYDRO CANNON!"
Alakazam: Zapped
Gardevoir: sun burned.
Haunter: drenched.
they were down.
Sabrina gave them the Marsh Badge and they were on their way to Lavander town. but, on thier way....
"Well, well." said a man who stopped them.
"Who are you? asked Shadow.
"Why don't you ask my son, Max."
"Chris!" yelled Max.
"MAx, how many times must i tell you, call me dad."
"You are not my father! you are a sick, twisted man who sent my father time traveling!"
"Max, why wont you come home? You know that the treaty says you can come live in the NPZ, and can't return, of course."
Max didn't say a word, but whipped out six pokeballs. they opened, reavealing his party: Charizard, Furret, Nidoking, Totodile, Lairon, and Abra.
"Max," said Chris, "No need to be hostile."
"Yeah, tell that to the legendary Pokemon you almost killed." said MAx, "Lairon, METAL SOUND!"
Lairon began screeching in a high pitch, that made Shadow, Jay and Chris fall to the ground.
"Get out." said Max.
"MAx," said Chris through clenched teeth, "Why won't you listen to reason?"
"Charizard, Furret, Nidoking, prep an Ultimate Tri-Attack."
embers began to fall out of Charizards mouth, Nidoking began to Spark, and Furrets breath became Ice-cold. Lairon was still screeching.
"Get out before you have frost-bite, third-degree burns, and paralalysis all at the same time." Max continued.
"NOW!" yelled Chris.
three robots came out, bearing a resemblance to the Regis.
"Capture them!" he continued.
"Attack!" yelled MAx.
Charizard and Nidoking slammed their tails into two of them, while the other four Pokemon tackled the third.
the robots got up.
"Salamence," said Shadow, "Go!"
"Aggron, Tauros, c'mon!" said Jay.
the three each helped take a robot. but the things were invincable.
then, out of nowhere, two Pokemon, one Large and purple, the other small and pink, appeared. Mew and Mewtwo.
Mewtwo raised his hand, and the three robots levitated in the air, immobile. then, Mew created a barrier around itself, and slammed through them. then, mewtwo clenched his fist, and they exploded!
"as for you!" said Mewtwo through telepathy, "BE GONE!!"
he raised his hand, and Chris vanished.
"Th-tht-h-th-t-ht-h-THATS MEWTWO!!!!!" yelled JAy.
"AWWWWW!" said Shadow, "Mew is so cute!" mew floated into her arms, and cuddled her.
"Thanks," max said to Mewtwo.
"Anytime," said Mewtwo, "It is my honor to get rid of that man. if you ever need anything, you know where to find me. Mew!"
Mew floated to Mewtwo, and they teleported.
the gang made it into Lavander, but what they found was not what they expected.

Keep it coming, it's a very well written story. 
Wow. The story just keeps getting better and better. The gym battles are getting difficult now. I can't wait to read the next chapter.
i'll post a new chapter tomorrow. i've written two or three this weekend. also, i'd like to give some credit to Narcinator, better known as Jay, and ShadowSong, better known as Shadow, for giving me some new characters! i've always use the same characters in my stories, so i have to develope new personas. its making it quite challenging. and thaks for all the comments!

“Yeah,” said Max, “I know Lavender isn’t the most pleasant town, but there are people who are outside all the time.”
“Wait.”
“What?” asked Jay.
“Didn’t your father, I mean step-father….Chris, come from Lavender?”
“You don’t mean that he did this?” asked Max.
“Well,” said Shadow, “He did lose the war. And a guy like him doesn’t give up easy.”
“There’s one way to find out.”
They made their way to the top of Pokémon Tower, the final resting place for deceased Pokémon. Up there, was an old man, named Mr. Fuji.
“Hello children,” he said in a soft-spoken voice.
“What’s going on?” asked Max.
“Your multi-billion dollar father has once again declared war, Max. but technically, it is not war.”
“What do you mean?” asked Jay.
“He bought Lavender Town. We are now a part of the NPZ. And I’m sorry that you came here to see me.”
“Why?” asked Shadow.
“Well, well.” said a man’s voice from behind.
Max and the gang turned around, and Max yelled, “Lawrence!”
“Max,” said Lawrence, “It’s nice to see you again.”
”Speak for yourself. Let me guess, father-dearest gave you Lavender Town, right?”
“Indeed he did. And with the storage system down, like we planned, he gave me eight, powerful, Pokémon I believe you are familiar with. I suggest you leave now!”
“No way! I challenge you to a battle! I declare war on NPZ!”
They went outside. The war was starting over again, only this time, Max was starting it.
“Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Entei, Suicune, Raikou, Lugia, Ho-oh, go!” yelled Lawrence.
“No.” said Max.
“They’re working with Galaxy.” Said Jay.
“Max,” said Shadow, “We can’t afford to go to war! You know it just as well as I do!”
“It’s too late.” Said Max, “Unless I can free them, the war is here and now.”
“Fine!”
Shadow closed her eyes. What she was doing, neither Jay or Max knew.
“Blizzard, Thunder, Fire Spin, Areoblast, Sacred Fire!” yelled Lawrence.
Then, as though magic, Max, Jay and Shadow began flying! They could tell there was something carrying them, and then, the objects appeared! Shadow was riding Latios, Jay on Latias, and Max on Rayquaza!
“Max, Jay, meet my Pokémon guardians, Latios and Latias, and of course, Rayquaza.” Said Shadow.
“We’ve met!” said Max, “Just like before, Rayquaza!”
Rayquaza roared, and dove at the opposing legendary Pokémon.
“Now, Rayquaza!” said Max, “Meteor Mash!”
As though Turning into a blazing comet, Rayquaza lit into a fiery blaze. Max Jumped off into the air, and released Charizard, who caught him. Rayquaza hit the eight Pokémon with deadly force, knocking all of them out.
“NO!” yelled Lawrence, “This is not over!”
He mysteriously vanished.
Once on the ground, the gang checked on the legendary Pokémon. Max went to Ho-oh.
“Sorry I let them get to ya,” he said. Ho-oh gave him a look that said, don’t be.
“Max,” said Shadow, “They are all fine! They will need rest, and then they can return to their homes.”
“Leave that to me!” said a girl’s voice.
The gang looked, and it was Erika!
“Erika!” yelled Jay, as he ran up to her. They hugged, and Erika said, “I’ve already called up a few leaders. We’ll take care of them. You guys go out and spot this from happening all over again.”
“You’ve got it!” said Jay.
Latios, Latias, and Rayquaza said their goodbyes to Shadow and Max, and Jay said his to Erika. The gang headed to Cinnabar Island, where they will battle the hot-headed Blaine for the Volcano Badge!

“Max, Jay, meet my Pokémon guardians, Latios and Latias, and of course, Rayquaza.” Said Shadow.
“We’ve met!” said Max, “Just like before, Rayquaza!”
Rayquaza roared, and dove at the opposing legendary Pokémon.
“Now, Rayquaza!” said Max, “Meteor Mash!”
As though Turning into a blazing comet, Rayquaza lit into a fiery blaze. Max Jumped off into the air, and released Charizard, who caught him. Rayquaza hit the eight Pokémon with deadly force, knocking all of them out.
“NO!” yelled Lawrence, “This is not over!”
He mysteriously vanished.
Once on the ground, the gang checked on the legendary Pokémon. Max went to Ho-oh.
“Sorry I let them get to ya,” he said. Ho-oh gave him a look that said, don’t be.
“Max,” said Shadow, “They are all fine! They will need rest, and then they can return to their homes.”
“Leave that to me!” said a girl’s voice.
The gang looked, and it was Erika!
“Erika!” yelled Jay, as he ran up to her. They hugged, and Erika said, “I’ve already called up a few leaders. We’ll take care of them. You guys go out and spot this from happening all over again.”
“You’ve got it!” said Jay.
Latios, Latias, and Rayquaza said their goodbyes to Shadow and Max, and Jay said his to Erika. The gang headed to Cinnabar Island, where they will battle the hot-headed Blaine for the Volcano Badge!

I love this chapter. Battles of legendary pokemon are sweet, Shadow's past is revealed, and we learned what Max's father was doing in Kanto in the first place. I can't wait to read more.

Max and the gang rode on Charizard, Salamence, and Altaria to Cinnabar Island, and were in for a rude awakening.
“IT ERUPTED?” asked Max to some locals on a nearby isle.
“Yep,” said an old man.
“Then where’s Blaine?” asked Shadow.
“Don’t know,” said a younger man, “Heard he ran off somewhere.”
The gang headed to the Pokémon Center for the night. They would search for Blaine in the morning.
That night….
Shadow was having another vision. She couldn’t see herself, it was like watching a movie. The “camera” was panning over Route 20. The “camera” stopped at Seafoam Island, and she woke up.
It was morning, and she told Max and Jay, and they both knew what it meant.
“To the Seafoam Islands!” said Jay.
They flew out ASAP, and landed on the island. There was a small entrance they went into, and Shadow then sent out Arcanine and Max sent out Furret, to track the scent of Blaine. Furret locked onto the scent, then Arcanine followed it. They followed Arcanine down a series of tunnels, each one going deeper into the earth. At first, it was chilly, but then, I got warmer, then very hot.
After coming out of a very long tunnel, they were in a hollow area with an arena in it, surrounded by lava!
“Well, well,” said an old, bald man in a lab coat, sunglasses, and a long, white mustache.
“Blaine,” said Max, “Your new gym is very…inconvenient.”
“Well, with the old gym under hardened lava, and the Ultimate Tournament under way, only the best should battle me. And I know from experience against two of you that you are the best. And Shadow, I’ve watches your career, very impressive. I’m glad that you three have teamed up. And that means no holding back!”
“We’d have it no other way!” said Shadow.
“Magmar, Arcanine, Rapidash, go!” yelled Blaine.
“Starmie, time to shine!” said Jay.
“Charmeleon, let do it!” said Shadow.
“Charizard, show ‘em who’s boss!” said Max.
“Alright!” said Blaine, “Arcanine, start things off with Extremespeed! Rapidash, Magmar, Fire Blast!”
Arcanine zoomed in for an attack, with a Fire Blast on either side of him.
“Starmie, counter with Hydro Pump!” said Jay.
“Charmeleon, use Fire Blast to counter!” said Shadow.
“Charizard,” said Max, “Take Arcanine head-on!”
Hydro Pump destroyed one Fire Blast, and Charmeleon’s attack did the same. Charizard flew at Arcanine, and then, Max yelled, “DRAGON CLAW!”
Charizard slammed a green, fiery fist into Arcanine, sending him backward.
“Starmie, Surf!” said Jay.
Charmelon hopped on Charizard’s back and Charizard dodged the massive water attack, but Blaine’s Pokémon weren’t so lucky.
They weren’t KOed though.
“Charizard!” said Max.
“Charmeleon!” said Shadow.
“Blast Burn!” they said together.
They both lobbed two, tiny fire balls, that exploded into a fiery blaze on the field. It knocked out Arcanine and Rapidash.
“I’ve still got one Pokémon!” said Blaine, “Magmar, Overheat!”
Magmar emitted a very hot blaze that even got to Starmie, Charmeleon, and Charizard. They began to pass out from the intense heat.
Charizard then had a flashback. Max’s battle with Blaine. It was Charmeleon versus Magmar. Charizard hadn’t evolved until the final Kanto League match. Charmeleon had passed out from an Overheat from Magmar, and Max had used Nidoking to win. Charmeleon was crushed, and refused to allow it to happen again. Charizard’s shot open, and he stood up.
“Yes!” yelled Max, “Seismic Toss!”
Charizard flew through the heat and flames, and grabbed Magmar. The heat stopped, and Charizard flew up with him. He threw Magmar to the ground, but before he hit, Charmeleon Iron Tailed Magmar back up. Charizard Steel Winged him, and then Starmie finished it off with Hydro Pump.
“Hm,” said Blaine, “Impressive.”
“YES!” said Max. Charizard landed, and Charizard was ecstatic. Nidoking and Furret came out on their own to congratulate him. To Charizard, this was redemption.
“Blaine,” said Shadow, “Not to be rude, but could you give us our badges, we need to get going.”
“Fine,” said Blaine, “But only if you can answer this riddle.”
“WHAT?” said Shadow, “That’s not fair!”
“Ask your friends, they had to do the same first time around. And this may not be Cinnabar, but the gym rules stand!”
“It’s true,” said Jay.
“What is it?” asked Shadow with hesitation.
“Very well,” said Blaine, “Let’s see…Got it! What does a Pokémon magician say?”
“Um…”
“Josh-a-kazam?” asked Jay.
Then, Abra popped out of his PokéBall.
“Abra, Kadabra, Alakazam,” said Max
“Correct!” said Blaine as he held out his hand with three Volcano Badges.
“Josh-a-kazam?” asked Shadow to Jay.
“I saw it on this, “Nickalodeon” station on TV,” said Jay, “And the weird thing is, none of those stations have Pokémon existing in them! That’s why I prefer Cartoon Network.”
Everyone started nodding, and said, “That’s true.”
“Okay,” said Max as they flew away, “Seven Kanto badges. Let’s go to Viridian, and see if the gym has reopened yet.”
So, with seven of eight badges, Max and his friends head off to complete the Kanto league one more time!

true, we win easy, but that is to get through the beginning, to get to the final chapters. Mount Battle, Citidark Isle, GIovanni, Chris Pesos, and Lawrence III. what could these all have in common? well, the only way to find out is to get through the next two dozen or so chapters, and that means quick victories. and, being that Johto is around the corner for our heroes, i plan on changing up the teams. remember, right now, they are using their most experienced teams. i intend on using new teams. also, soon will be posted both mine and Shadow's character bios, so be on the look out for those!
