“Black Bolt” and “White Flare” Special Sets Revealed in English, Will Be First-Ever Dual Sets!
Welcome back to Unova — Black Bolt and White Flare have now been revealed for the English TCG! They will be our next special sets. Their products will release between July 18th and August 22nd.
For the first time ever, the English TCG will be getting split sets like Japan — two separate but related sets releasing at the same time! We speculated this would be the case back in January based on initial product listings that showed there would be two Booster Bundles. This is also the first time Japanese and English sets will directly share the same name.
Each set will individually feature:
Over 170 cards- More than 65 illustration rare cards
- More than 5 special illustration rare cards
- Six Pokémon ex (including Zekrom ex and Meloetta ex in Black Bolt and Reshiram ex and Keldeo ex in White Flare)
- Eight ultra rare Pokémon and Supporter cards
- One illustration rare or special illustration rare card for each Unova Pokémon
- One special illustration rare Supporter card
- Three different parallel foil sets, two of which will feature either a rainbow Poké Ball or Master Ball pattern shimmering across the card
- New “Black White rare” cards, which will feature card illustrations in a monochromatic black or white design
Like all special sets, TPCi will not sell booster boxes or individual packs of these sets. You can only get packs of Black Bolt or White Flare inside these special products:
- Black Bolt or White Flare Elite Trainer Box (available July 18, 2025): Includes nine Black Bolt or White Flare booster packs, respectively; one illustration rare style promo card featuring Thundurus or Tornadus, respectively; and various gameplay accessories.
- Black Bolt or White Flare Binder Collection (available July 18, 2025): Includes five Black Bolt or White Flare booster packs, respectively; and one nine-pocket album featuring Zekrom or Reshiram, respectively, to organize and store Pokémon TCG cards.
- Unova Poster Collection (available July 18, 2025): Includes two Black Bolt booster packs; two White Flare booster packs; three promo cards featuring Snivy, Tepig and Oshawott; and one full-size, two-sided poster.
- Unova Mini Tin (available July 18, 2025): Includes one Black Bolt booster pack; one White Flare booster pack; one art card and one sticker card matching the tin’s art.
- Black Bolt or White Flare Tech Sticker Collection (available Aug. 1, 2025): Includes three Black Bolt or White Flare booster packs, respectively; one illustration rare style promo card featuring Reuniclus or Gothitelle, respectively; and one sticker sheet for personalizing laptops, tablets and other tech devices.
- Unova Victini Illustration Collection (available Aug. 1, 2025): Includes two Black Bolt booster packs; two White Flare booster packs; one illustration rare style promo card featuring Victini; one premium parallel Poké Ball card featuring Victini; and one oversize illustration rare style foil promo card featuring Victini.
- Black Bolt or White Flare Booster Bundle (available Aug. 22, 2025): Includes six Black Bolt or White Flare booster packs, respectively.
Each of the 156 Unova Pokemon will get a regular card, a reverse holo, a Poke Ball reverse holo, a Master Ball reverse holo, and an Illustration Rare or Special Illustration Rare. This means the sets will have over 800 cards combined. Crikey!
