Blastoise's pose is reminiscent of the Dark Blastoise, while Venusaur is obviously in their "stock" pose.
I can appreciate that none of the Charizards in this set are a callback to Base Set Charizard and are, instead, their own thing.

Love the Charmander line: Miki Kudo's art style is unique and his illustrations look gorgeous!

The whole charizard line of art rares is just straight up Bagon's story. They made a Pokemon with lore about wanting to fly when it grows up, forgot about it, and gave that aesthetic to Charizard instead. I never knew a media franchise could plagiarize itself ?
