Ruling --

1. Yes, as long as the card has TRAINER printed on it
2. Yes, it's a trainer card
3. Yes, they are trainer cards
 
I believe all Tools are basic Item cards, at least by definition. So yeah, Junk Arm can retrieve any tool from the discard.
 
Just to clarify. As long as the card says Trainer and does not say Supporter or Stadium, you may retrieve it with junk arm. The new stadiums and supporters also say trainer on them but you may not get them back.
