A Meta We Are All Not Considering

This is my theory, and I think from my observations, the meta will be this way especially for nationals...

We are headed into a stadium battle format.
This format has some of the better stadiums I've seen, since Chaos Gym way back in the day.

I am beginning to realize it also in my play testing, that stadiums are huge right now.
And I am beginning to believe that some decks could begin running 3-4 stadiums in the near future, easily.

Virbank, lot of decks running hypnotoxic laser, this is going to be crucial.
If you aren't running it you most DEF want to take out all the virbanks as fast as possible.

Skyarrow, is still popular to my knowledge especially in eels for recycling actives for the motor acceleration after discarding. I'm sure there are other decks running it, ho oh probably.

Frozen City, the big one. That is going to hurt a LOT of decks out right now.
"When either player attaches an Energy to their non-Team Plasma Pokemon, place 2 damage counters on that Pokemon."

Plasma Frigate, could have some play somewhere, where I am not sure yet. But I haven't been too current in watching other people's lists.

I really do agree with you that stadium wars are coming. But I don't really think anyone needs to play more stadiums to combat Virbank in my opinion it's a pretty fair trade off as long as you have your own hypnotoxic lasers to poision th e opponent for 30 back.

On a side note: One Stadium I think you forgot to mention was Aspertia City Gym which a lot of tornadus decks use right now to give them more HP.

Most every deck will run Virbank and some will run Skyarrow. I doubt too many of the other two, but I do love Frozen City. Frozen City has its perks especially against Keldeo/Blastoise! Every energy placed with Blastoise inflicts damage! Which is awesome! No more overloaded Keldeo with it in play, I have begun testing it in my Lugia/Landorus/Dusknoir deck, This decks actually works well people! And Plasma Frigate, Yeah maybe some play but mostly decks that have bad weaknesses like maybe plasmaklang, or Mewtwo Varients? Not sure...
Well there is my 2 cents.

ah yes. i did forget about that stadium.
i knew i was forgetting something.
i do think there is some play there.
i also think if somebody could run it right.
i think pokemon center in the future could also see play.

no doubt a majority will be skyarrow/virbank
but i think there will be others that come into play.
the meta is getting tricky now imo

I should point out that Frozen City only applies to Energy cards attached from the hand. If attached from the deck or discard pile, it does not trigger. Thus, Eelektrik, Darkrai, and the like can circumvent Frozen City completely (but then again, these decks have Stadiums of their own they frequently use).

Frozen City is IMO, the best stadium out there (once it is released ofc). Those 20 dmg to a Darkrai EX can hurt the Darkrai player a lot. Those 20 dmg means that a Terrakion can OHKO an eviolited Darkrai with Retaliate. Virbank is a good stadium to no doubt about it, but most players will play no more then 2, and if their opponent plays any other stadiums then they will run atleast 3 to win the stadium war.

They're definitely coming back. With the addition of Virbank, Stadiums have really never been more important in years. The last time I remember Stadiums becoming this big was when Battle Frontier, Cursed Stone, Power Tree, and Desert Ruins were in format.

dmaster out.

I didn't play during that time, but I can only imagine having 5+ stadiums that could see play legitimately.

Those are just the ones I remember being big in certain Worlds deck too.

Stadiums were a super integral part to the game in a once loved day. Now it's really either play Virbank or counter Virbank with something else because that Poison can rack up so much damage over the course of the game if you can't get rid of the Stadium. Frozen City is starting to get into the good kinds of Stadiums though. It reminds me of detrimental Stadiums like Cursed Stone and those are the ones that can create some interesting strategies from deck-building.

dmaster out.

*coughcoughcoughcough Tropical beach coughcoughcoughcough*

-is a good stadium that is true but I believe Frozen City is better.

Especially if you are on a budget. For the price of one trop beach, you could get... A lot of frozen city...

The prize of TB actually changes from where you live. In USA you are only allowed to use the english version which every player only gets 1 of at worlds. But in Europe, you are allowed to use every single language beside japanese cards. which makes 8/9 of the recieved tropical beaches playable.

Being the most expensive does not mean the best. The main reason Tropical Beach is so popular in Blastoise is because most of the time there is 0% chance of attacking T1 unless you run Mewtwo DCE. That and late game N really hurts. Virbank is IMO, the best stadium out there. HTL is the hyped thing, but Virbank makes this card 3 times as powerful than by itself. Miss a switch while your poisoned with VCG out and you'll see how fast it puts you in a bad spot. Missing a switch means 90 Total damage without your opponent even attacking. 90 for two cards and a little luck is stupidly overpowered.
Frozen city is definitely good, but with Eels and Darkrai getting around it for the most part, it isn't first. It is better than Tropical Beach though. When this comes out, if your not running either VCG or Frozen City, counter stadiums will be a necessity. Few people run stadiums just to counter Beach. Everybody should run counters to Virbank and Frozen City.

@OP: I hate the title because it makes everyone seem stupid and makes it seem like you're brilliant at coming up with it. I for one (as well as many other I'm sure) had actually considered the Stadium battles a reality before you posted this especially with the overpowered VCG. But yeah I agree with the OP for the most part and Aspertia and Beach are and will remain powerful cards. However, I think that some decks utilizing Bouffalant and/or Tornadus EX may prefer Virbank.

Something like: "Stadium Wars Discussion Thread" would be more fitting and appropriate.

actually, that is your own interpretation.
discuss the OP or go away.
i was the one that was told about the concept from another friend of mine.
and thought i would share the insight. because I in fact, was NOT considering a stadium war.

No dip it's my own interpretation, and I did discuss the OP. "thought i would share the insight" Great! That's awesome by me and created interesting discussion, but don't name it what you named it for reasons I said in my other post.

Ah, I didn't know that. In the US though... 130 is a reasonable price on ebay for a regular tropical beach. Yep, not a card that I will be running. The foreign language beaches are still 30-50. Not cheap, but much better than 130 (not counting the 200 ish dollar JPN Beaches).
