haha but whats a backpacker?

lol...normally that's a term used to define the kind of hiphop head, who is really about all the elements of hiphop, instead of just the music making ones

normally they tend to listen to people like:

Kool Keith
Sir Menalik
Cipha Complete
Freestyle Fellowship (before they broke up)
Company Flow
Weathermen (El-P, Cage, Copywrite, Vast Aire)

mainly artists, who were more about using and showcasing their lyrical skills while ignoring the street aspect of the music, and often referred to as "Nerd-Rap"

rap is derived from hiphop...during the start of it all, yea, it was the same, but sometime during the late 80's to mid-90's, there just started to be a flood of people who were more about the money they could make rather than the quality of music they put out...so instead of keeping things personally creative, they started listening to record execs about the kind of music to make, and buying into marketing schemes and promotions as a means of what kind of music to put out

today, you have one side who puts their heart & soul into the music...and the other, just puts money into the music

so the people who put there soul into the music are like ones who take there time and like write lyrics about stuff to catch peoples attention or about themselves and the ones just for money are ones who like just get words and make them into a rap?
