Japanese players promo Espeon and Flareon Star

Ceraintly is! While the Flareon tends to only go for around the $100 mark, Espeon on it's own can go up to $600. Umbreon even more. Nice deal :)

thanks, im working on completing the full set and trying to get the stars out of the way first, that umbreon though.... if i only i got paid more lol

$600 is nothing. Great Raichu (or, Raichu Prime) goes for $500 in Japan due to rarity. A lot of the higher end trophy cards in both english and japanese can sell for over a thousand.

It is a collectable game, not just a playable game, after all ;)

Man, I Thought Just Trading An Arceus Or A Rare Lugia Legend Was Crazy! That's Alot Of Money![I May Need Help With Pictures Or A Banner Too]

Man it should be a crime to sell cards at that kind of price. I mean come on, its a still just a piece of cardboard and computer ink art. lol

Im all for the hard to get collection cards, but $500+ ? Really? Why?

^Because of the rarity. You had to have a certain number of points in some club in Japan, and so it was hard to obtain these cards due to the number of points it takes to get them. To some people, it's not just a piece of cardboard, it's a piece of their life.

I describe it as "card board" to dumb it down. I respect rare cards. Im a collector myself.
I just cant justify paying that much for a card. And besides, its only worth that much to some people. Value is based on demand. Sure I REALLY want that card, but Its not worth hundreds of dollars to me. lol

Not all prices are set due to demand. A lot of the older, as well as newer rare cards out of Japan are usually in a high price point thanks to only so many of them being produced. Things such as Wonder Platinum, Master's Key, Mysterious Pearl only have 72 copies in the world, and most of the winners hold on to them.

Things like the Daisuki Club cards are in high demand due to a lot of popular Pokemon being on them, but most have their rarity cost determined by how hard they were to obtain.

Others like Battle Road trophies and No.1/2/3 Trainers of various years only have a literal handful in existence and thus fetch a high price.

So no, not always demand, but it can be a factor that alters price. Sometimes cards are just insane from the get-go. I'm looking at you, Illustrator.

Ah, I have had an English Umbreon* for so long... I think I got it for a few non-holo rares. No where near worth as much as this though.

@viper.fox prices are set by demand if no one wants them the it wouldn't sell for the price that it sells for. Simple Economics on the other had, I believe that if that card is that rare than i would pay that much for one. Look at it like a painting. I my be only wroth this much now but as time pass it will only go up in price

That's crazy, $600 for a card, well if there are people willing to buy it, it's their choice i guess, i'd never pay that much though, the most i've ever paid for for a card would be £40 (About $60) for Lottery Dialga and Palkia (£20 each)

I bet that seller must be happy xD

@Tiftonhotchild
Demand is only one factor out of a huge myriad of things that determine pricing of a card, though, was more the point I was making previously. It's one factor of many. There are often times where a (rare) card can sell high even though it's not a high-demand card but due to simply how difficult it could have been to obtain, and other times where it's usually a cheap card but demand for it ramps the price up. The latter point isn't something you usually see in the Japanese promo side of things, though.

If you think $600 is crazy, viper.fox is paying off a set of 3 cards that (together) are way more than ten times more. And I'm paying off a card twice as much. Collecting can be a crazy, crazy game at the highest level. The first time the No. 1 trophy changed hands (dunno if it was the 1998 or 1999), it was for over $20,000.

Ironically, now is a great time to get the rarest cards in the world. Of course, they're still require serious cash, just not at the $20,000 for now. The great thing about the card game is that whilst prices for pretty much everything has gone down, it hasn't collapsed. As the economy recovers and collectors start getting more cash, you can bet those prices are going to start rising...
