Standard Metagross-GX (Post-Rotation)

Here's my first crack at building a post-rotation deck. I wanted to try Metagross-GX because I believe it is better positioned going into the new format. I decided to focus more on the GX rather than the new Metagross that came out in Celestial Storm because while it is a great one-prize attacker, I don't think it's strong enough by itself to be competitively viable.

Focusing on the GX also allows you to be more mobile because most of the time you want to manually retreat so you can accelerate Energy back onto a new Metagross. The GX also allows me to run techs like Dusk Mane Necrozma-GX, which can singlehandedly swing a game in your favor. I'm running the 60 HP Beldum due to it's ability, which allows you to freely retreat an active Beldum turn one (as long as you have two other Beldum on the bench) so you can use Beacon. One Dhelmise is mandatory because you want to be able to hit 190.

As for my Supporter counts, they're flexible, but I feel like my current list is a good starting point. I'm only running one Steven's Resolve because the non-GX Metagross has to be in the active to fully utilize it so it's not something I want to rely on. I'm running two Tate & Liza because it's similar to Cynthia but also gives me the option to switch a Pokémon if I don't need to use a draw Supporter that turn and need to get a Pokémon out of the active. Lillie is my preferred T1 Supporter.

I feel like the Items are self-explanatory but I did want to touch on Mysterious Treasure. I only run three Psychic-types but it still adds consistency to the deck, acting like a fifth Ultra Ball that is able to search for a Tapu Lele-GX without having to discard two needed cards from my hand. Plus, I need to get Energy in the discard, and without an aggressive draw Supporter like Professor Sycamore in the format, I now have to rely on cards like Ultra Ball so Mysterious Treasure can help get an Energy in the discard.

I'm still undecided on my Energy counts. I feel like I may be able to cut an Energy or two but it's worked so far.

Let me know what you think!
