Standard Mew's First Impression (Post Rotation)

I like playing with cards I have, so I try to build based on that before looking at cards to aim for. The deck is simple - use Golisopod GX's First Impression with extra sources from Mew EX, who can use it as well. Guzma/switch for constant bench control and maximizing First Impression. I use Pidgeot EX online and have fallen in love with using it's Feather Lance, but I'm not sure if it belongs in the deck. So far so good though...

Pokemon (17)

2x Pidgeot EX
4x Wimpod BUS
1x Golisopod
3x Golisopod GX
3x Mew EX
1x Tauros GX
1x Oranguru
2x Tapu Koko

Trainers (26)

4x N
4x Professor Sycamore
4x Guzma
4x Switch
3x Ultra Ball
3x Professor Kukui
2x Choice Band
1x Acerola
1x Rescue Stretcher

Energy (17)

13x Grass Energy
4x Double Colorless Energy

Optimally, I would like to fit another Acerola in there. I'm not sure what fixes to go with.

I used to play back in the days of HS and early Black & White, so I don't know many of the new cards nor do I have an extensive collection to refer to- so please let me know which Pokemon. I have seen terms like "Baby Volcanion" and I simply have no idea what that is.

Thanks!

Remove some of your energies to make room for more copies of Acerola and Choice Band, as Golisopod GX only needs 1 energy to use First Impression. 17 energies including DCEs are too much.

I think 8 Grass energy and 4 DCE should be enough already.

FYI: "Baby Volcanion" means the normal Volcanion card, so not the Volcanion EX card.

As a quick fix, I took out 1 Grass Energy for Acerola. I took the deck to a League Cup and took 2nd place, beating an Aerotrail deck, a Metagross deck (Began the game with both Lele Prized) and lost to a Volcanion deck.

Afterwards, I took out a second Grass Energy for a Field Blower tech.

Based on your suggestions, I need to fill out 3 more slots if I remove 3 more Grass Energy. I'm also heavily questioning Pidgeot EX, especially two of them. When I play online, it's an MVP. But in play, it's not doing what I need as often as I'd like it to.

Thoughts?

First of all, congratulations. 2nd is a nice finish, and Volcanion is basically an auto-loss for your deck I guess, considering weakness.

There are a few options you could consider, like:
- Making it a Golisopod / Garbodor deck (see finals Worlds this year, really a great deck).
- Making it a Golisopod / ? deck (for example you could try Decidueye GX, haven't seen that already, of maybe Lurantis (GX and promo)).
- Keeping the idea of your deck but finetune it, I think removing Pidgeot Ex is not a bad idea. Maybe add an Espeon Ex, for devolution reasons. Technically just bench Espeon Ex, and you can use the attack with Mew Ex as well. Or add Drampa GX; since you are switching a lot for Golisopod GX, it is likely you will get Pokemon with damage on you bench.

Thanks!

I tend to stay away from Worlds decks. Partially because I didn't build it, and partially because everyone knows how it plays.

I think I may swap out a Pidgeot or both for Drampa. I hadn't really considered it, but between the damage output and the Energy disruption it could prove quite useful.
