New Subforum Suggestion

I'm pretty sure people have noticed, but in the past 2 months or so a lot of people have posted their playthroughs, most of them Nuzlocke. I think they've been great (I posted my own) and now have a following behind them. However, I don't think they belong in the Ye Olden Generations forum. They don't really provide any discussion of older games and they kind of clog up the forum.

I think that there should be a new forum/subforum for these runs. That way it keeps them out of the Ye Olden Generations but allows people to browse them all in a single place. A set of rules would probably be needed, like only having 1 run at a time, but I think it would help organization a lot.

Thanks for hearing me out and let me know what you think.

First thanks for your suggestion.

The thing with Ye Olden Generations is it is suppose to be for any of the nonfifth generation games. This would include Nuzlocke runs if they are for a game other than Pokémon White or Pokémon Black. Back when the forums were reorganized the idea was to try and get rid of unnecessary forums and subforums. I don't really know how much activity the subforum would get if we created it. As you may recall recently it was brought up that Slateport Market and Pokemon Trading may go away. This was partially because the activity level was rather low in them. Sorry, but my answer at this time is no.

I can understand where you are coming from, DE. That's what Phase Moltres was supposed to do - to clean up the forums.

I'm not sure if a subforum is completely necessary, TBH. This is coming from a member's view, so don't take my word for it. But there are other subforums out there that don't recieve too much attention (eg. Online Playtesting!). However, I feel the reason this should not be a subforum is because the Nuzlocke thing is, was, and will be a fad. The Nuzlockes will eventually stop when everybody is done with them (unless others want to continue them), but other subforums will always have things going for them. They may not be the most active, but tournaments will continue to pop up. Nuzlockes? I don't think so.

Yeah, I agree that Nuzlockes will eventually lose their hype. Although there are so many now, a couple of them have already ended, so I don't think they need their own subforum.

At one point all we had was a single official thread for them and it stored all the activity. Kinda funny when you think about it.

dmaster out.

Another potential issue I could see with the new Nuzlocke forum would be that activity in the "Ye Olden Generations" would be significantly reduced. If you look at the last several threads, a vast majority are Nuzlockes. With this Nuzlocke forum, we will have two almost-dead forums versus one reasonably active one. I think that Nuzlockes are actually good for that forum, and though there is definitely a few too many as of now, I think we will see that number decrease as time goes on. (Though unlike previous posters I think Nuzlockes are here to stay.) We might also end up seeing more creative play-throughs in the near future as well, such as Bippa's "Pick my Pokemon" run he recently started.

However, I do think your "only 1 Nuzlocke at a time" proposal is a good one. I think it would help encourage users to finish their Nuzlockes, and also stops an issue before it could really become a problem.

For the love of God, please no more sub-forums. There's enough unnecessary forums and sub-forums as it is right now. A forum specifically designated to one playthrough of one game for each individual person would not generate a lot of traffic.
