I have had this arguement with many people.
So I decided to take it here.
Ok so I going to give a list of pros and cons. Then you can list some you have that I didn't list , and/or you can argue with me.
I'll start with cons.
Cons:
1.No GBA Slot , ok you have to admit without the GBA slot playing D/P/P on the DSi is somewhat pointless.
2.More money , you have to pay more money , but you get more stuff...
3.If you already have a Camera/DS/MP3player or Ipod , you don't really need one.

Pros:
1. Built in web browser , great for coffeshops and fast food resturants where you need to check your email or make a post here.
2.bigger screens , always nice
3.DS shop channel , If it's like the wii one , it will be cool and I bet you could download GBA games.

I have more , but I need to research some more.
So now , please discuss.

Wow a web browser!!! Coolieo! I will be defently getting a DSi!! Need to save a lot of money around 180$ USD Correct?

..keep your old DS for Pal Park and GBA game playing? I don't see this as a huge issue.

The new features make the system. Even if you do already own devices that preform the extra features, it's undeniable that they wouldn't be cool in the same package. If for whatever reason you don't want those features on a DS, then don't buy the DSi.

These are all great reasons to purchase the DSi. The web browser will definately come in handy, especially for people who don't already own a mobile device with browsing capabilities. The shop channel is really what sold me over though, the possibility of classic GameBoy games and new downloadable titles on my DS gives me chills.

for your first quote, I would rather just have one DS, having more than one is pretty much pointless...so, if I'm gonna keep my DS to continue playing GBA games, I would just rather keep my regular DS

the next, meh, if you have those features already bundled with other devices, having it with a DSi doesn't really make it any cooler

hmmm....built-in web browser, you can already get a browser for the DS now, granted it's not built-in, but the difference you would have to pay to get the browser will probably be less than the difference between the DS Lite and DSi...bigger screens, decent addition...DS store, ok I guess, would be interesting to see what is sold on there though

I object to these:

"Cons":
1. You're wrong. If you already have all the Pokémon you need, I don't see how exactly this would be bad. Note that most people won't just be playing Pokémon on their DSis either...
2. Don't try it. Everything costs more to get more. Try adding the price of a similar camera to the price of an I-Pod/MP3 Player and the the price of a DS Lite. I'm sure you'll end up with higher than 180 USD... More stuff costs more, this argument is null and void.
3. Convenience. Would you rather take more space to carry all 3 around, or would you take them all in one convenient package?

The only valid Con I see is the weaker battery life... You also missed quite a few pros, but I can't be bothered to try and remember them all and post them...

1. Who's to say that you already have all the pokemon you need...there are still other GBA games worth playing, not just the Pokemon ones

2. While you are correct, most people get that stuff already bundled in another device, it's rare that you find people buying all that stuff separately these days, and getting it with either similar pricing or probably better quality

3. Like I said, most people already buy this stuff bundled in another device...and not only will it probably be of better quality, but they will probably be in a device more convenient to carry than a DS, erego; less space

If you already have this stuff bundled in a device already, the DSi wouldn't really be a smart buy, but if you don't and you want to be a loyal nintendo user, then by all means...the DSi would be a good purchase

Only worth it if you need a new DS, never wanted a handheld until now, or like Nintendo. Sounds like a small majority to me. :F Wait and see what features the U.S. DSi will for sure have; I heard they might scrap some features.

dmaster out.

I like the GBA slot...

I have a lot of my pokemon on my Diamond thanks to that GBA slot, thank you very much~
