I hate it. It's annoying, unnecessary, and needs to be outlawed ASAP.

Don't get what you trying to say... Do you mean that you have to turn page sideways to read everything? Something like signature pics too big?

there should be a maximum sig length and size (as in ..kB), because sometimes my screen stops going down when I'm scrolling when passing a sig (like scorpio's), can I please suggest the use as PNG files, those are a lot less huge in size.

also, post stretching like:







should be forbidden, it's really annoying sometimes

and people, please, STOP PUTTING HUGE CARD SCANS IN YOUR SIG!!!
 
Page stretching is when you have to scroll sideways in order to read text on the page. It happens when one of two things happen.

1. A user puts an image in their post and/or signature that is too large (lengthwise), and forces users to scroll sideways to see the right side of it, or

2. Not using the space bar or separating a long list by forward slashes ( / ) will cause the page to stretch since it is treated as a giant word.
 
Most banners are made for over 800x600 creens, and the page is outstreched by those anyways. I espcailly make sure when I do banners that it's not to big.
 
Well, I've seen a fair amount of "Page Stretching"/Oversized Banners and other Card Scans. Please use anything that is able to resize the length of your Banner, Card Scan, etc. In addition to that, please stop using the space bar excessively. It's not cool and it just needs us to report to Mods and they'll Edit+Warn (If serious). Card Scans, why would you put them as your sig? I've seen one with Aron, and one with Medicham-ex and Delcatty-ex. Do it yourself and help the PB community.
 
I agree because it makes it so you can't read the posts with out moving the bottom side bar and it makes the post not look good so there should be a rule saying no page stretching or something of that sort.:)
 
I think the rule should be enforced on new years day and could you please do that WPM? Thank you.:)
 
i agree with u. it's really annoying, especially when people put PB card scans in their sigs. it's even more annoying when u don't have fast internet. can u do something about that, WPM?
 
I don't know why it's that bad. It takes 1 second to scroll to the side. I understand it gets annoying some times...but it's really not that bad to make a stand against. Now if it was on EVERY thread, then I'd consider it. But just every now or then having to scroll to the side really isn't that bad.

If someone has, for example, a banner that is too long (a sight I've not seen too much of lately, but have recently), in their signature, then every topic they post in will have a stretched page.

There's no reason that anyone needs an image that long in their signature, and they're the #1 reason pages get stretched anyway. Perhaps the cause should be outlawed rather than the effect...

Sounds good to me. Chop off the Arbok's head and the body'll die. Though, there might've been a rule on it. There's always a way around it, sadly.

I think this is relevant to page stretching, since signatures are the main reason why pages get stretched. I personally disagree with this, we shouldn't have to shut off all signatures because a couple people decide they feel like being disruptive.

Also, according to the forum rules, there is currently no rule regarding images in your signature. I say it's high time one was made.

Yeah, we should have sig/banner rule's.
That's why I've started making my banners the same limit size from SPPF which is 468x100.
 
It would be good if we did but I don't think it will happen and most computers can handle it and it depends on the size of your screen and weather you have cable or dsl service and if you get rid of addware and scan your computer properly it should run ok.:)
 
xxashxx, you're missing the point. It's not that it makes the computer run slower. I personally don't care about the scans people put in their signatures. they are long vertically (up and down), and that doesn't cause the page to stretch. You shouldn't ever have to scroll horizontally (left and right) to read a page - something on that page is longer than your browser window, and that's what makes the page get stretched; it has to accomodate that image.

And it shouldn't be that way.
