Hi, so i was wondering can you have your discard pile sideways and have your deck the right way. Can you play like this if everything can be seen clearly. And about the Prizes do they have a special why to have them set up. Do they have to be 2-2-2 or can it be 3-3 in rows that's what I'm trying to say. Thank you for Helping. :D

RE: Question about the Playing Field?

I don't follow the playmat way when i'm playing around on the streets but if its something big like cities etc the playmat way should be followed.

RE: Question about the Playing Field?

it that i wanted to make a play mat and i want to know if you can have your discard pile side ways that's all and i think that the prizes can be in any order, just that the prizes are spared and can be clearly seen. But that's for helping Ryuu.

RE: Question about the Playing Field?

I believe you can have your set-up/play area any way you want.
But your deck must be going vertical.
It would be dumb to have a warning/caution for having your discard sideways. (you already know what is in it...)

RE: Question about the Playing Field?

Ya i know it will be kind of dumb but i just want to be sure. But i will make and see what happeneds. Thank you for your help Randy-A.

RE: Question about the Playing Field?

Randy is correct. Your deck must be facing North/South orientation. The discard may be turned 90 degrees to an East/West configuration.

The playmat should be followed for any event where they are used. At worlds, i was unable to use my personal playmat, as the tables had their own. I wanted to appeal, but decided not to.

RE: Question about the Playing Field?

At a BR once, I tried putting my discard pile in a line, with the cards mostly overlapping, visible enough to see just the title of the card. The TO didn't like this, because he said I might confuse something in my discard pile for being on my bench when it's not. I can sort of see where he's coming from, but I also think it's somewhat bogus. :/

I also got a mini-warning for having my deck on the left side and prizes on the right. Apparently, Pokemon wasn't made for lefties. :p

You shouldn't get a warning for this. If you are left handed you are allowed to switch your sides, as long as you have your discard and deck on the opposite side of your prizes.
