Does WPM pay money to keep this site alive? I mean he has never mentoined anything about it from what I have read.

He shouldn't have to. Most forums are free to create, and most of the help that he has with the site is by friends/aquaintances.

Also if anything I'd assume that WPM makes money from the site. He has advertisements from google on the top of the Main Page and on the bottom of the forums.

I don't think he does. He pays in time. This site must have taken a lot of work.

v Okay...I guess he does...

I think it does cost money, viewers are coming in but there is all the complex stuff with the layout and its on the web.

You would think it cost money to keep a website. I asked my dad he said that websites aren't free to create all the time.

Considering all the copyrights I guess this was a pretty dumb question

Websites are free to create, but what you pay for is the domain and server. So rather than being a free site like geocities, it's just Pokebeach.com. You pay for the domain (.com), usually a yearly fee but can be monthly or bi-annually or whatever.

Yeah, people normally think "Oh, yeah, it's easy to get a website." Idiots. It's probably the most expensive thing you'll ever buy, especially considering what name you want for your website. Then you have to get a server, and that just racks up. Advertisements suprisingly don't pay a lot of it, I'd assume. If anything, the advertisers have to be paid. >__>

dmaster out.

Why would the advertisers have to be paid? They're USING SPACE ON YOUR WEBSITE. You don't pay someone to use your space, you get paid by people who use your space.

Advertisers pay for space because they get money when people click on their adverts.

I do agree that it's a lot harder to get a website going than people assume however. Just looking at one or two attempts to create sites in recent times, it's clear that people underestimate the difficulty in both making and paying for them.

I was just using it to explain how hard it is to actually maintain a website. It wasn't literal. >__>

for simpler sites its free most of the time but this is complex so he probably pays quite a bit...

Simple googing proves you wrong. :x http://www.allbusiness.com/technology/internet-domain-names/2629-1.html As for advertisers, I have a friend that made a google-like search engine (think its zoogle but idr) and he was making $65+ a month for advertisments.

True, but the domain names still cost money. I didn't specify long or short term.
