Possible Nibiru Collision this Year?

If I read the report right it will miss by 0.233685410470319 AU or 34,958,870 kilometers or 21,722,435 miles

Judging by those calculations by NASA it should miss by ALOT. At best it will be close enough to Earth to give us a Meteor Shower but nothing too significant or close to an extinction level event. Thank God! ;)

I can see where people got the reference from, the name of the comet "Elenin" named after Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin with "Ele" abbreviated to "Extinction Level Event" and "Nine Eleven" as to reference 9/11 and possibly 3/11. Awkwardly enough the guy I heard that talked about this at my local grocery store was cashiering on Register 9, coincidence? o_0

In other words, I'll be celebrating on 9/11.

have fun celebrating the deaths of many americans and a plane hi-jacking.

Also Card Slinger J, that would not miss be a lot. that would barely miss us. if it was .02 AU we'd see a n enormous planet in the sky, even possibly blocking the sun :V

Its not .02 but 0.233685410470319 AU and it is not a planet but a 10 k comet

So what are you getting at? It's not that big of a threat I'm assuming. Comets usually don't come in the size of a planet let alone an asteroid, I'm not a rocket scientist so explain it to me in simplistic terms omahanime.

wait What, since when was it a comet

You weren't paying attention were you? According to NASA and Russian Astronomer Leonid Elenin last year, it is indeed a comet. Nibiru = C/2010 X1 (Elenin):

There's no reason to worry. Comets like these fly by every now and then, but apparantly some had to make a conspiration theory about this (like with almost everything these days). This i the article on the comet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C/2010_X1 I would say read it if you're not sure, but there's absolutely no threat.

Also, if NASA is trying to hide things or lies to us, why would you believe a person that has no astronomical education in the first place. The videos of this are full of mistakes and lies themselves.

It's sad, but a lot of people like to believe conspiration theories..

Wow.....if this really happened, then I won't ever graduate high school.

I don't believe this. I'm graduating high school! The world can end after that.

Haha biggest piece of bullshit I've ever heard right there. How the heck would a comet that far out affect all the earthquakes happening? Or even affect earthquakes at all? These people need to go back to their 8th grade geology class (which I just got out of btw) and learn how techtonic plates really move. (Convection currents of magma or something like that, lol I already forgot). Also speaking of earthquakes, why are we freaking out so much that so many are happening? First off this isn't the first time the plates have moved and can't we just let the earth to its business?

And geez that came close actually. Anyone know how many minutes that is?

@Emeralds Hold No Hope, that was just an ironic statement I made. I meant I'd be celebrating the fact I'm still alive, and the world not ending; I'm not celebrating a bunch of people who died in the twin towers.

And why do we remember 9/11 so much? Let it go, death is part of life, accept it. There's current stuff that we should be focusing on in the world, not something that happened a decade ago. If this offends you, I'm sorry, but it's my honest opinion.

Oh gosh, not another End of the World LOLZ Thread....These things always makes me think of some stuff that really bothers me,that I cant even get off of my head. >_>

But really,like Pokequaza said

And really,if LOTS of comets always float by space, and in all of these years after the Dinosaurs Extinction has NEVER,EVER hit the Earth,Moon,Sun and all the other planets,I think it is impossible for a comet to hit it at least by now.
And for the offtopic 2012 thing...Geez,it even makes me feel bad from being born in México...(Not trying to be Racist here)

WHOOPE!!!More quoting time!:

Clever-ish...Even us young-uns know and think more positively than the older people and about all these stuff. :p

I am not a professer or a releitive of a 9/11 casultie but that was really, really mean. I mean come on dude 1000's of people died and the US lost 1,000,000's of dollers. AND a plane got hi-jacked people commited suicide and familys were destroyed >.> come on dude be sensitive and not a person who only cares about what happens to him/herself >.<

@OshawottFan, you don't know me at all, and you have no idea that I care about many, many people more than I care about myself, so you have no right to be saying that at all. I would sacrifice my life for my loved ones.

The US also lost millions of dollars thanks to Obama taking a vacation every three weeks with his family while he rents out the Taj Mahal, but no one seems to be complaining about that.

Also, I'm a girl, not a dude, and I don't need to be told off.

Calm down. ~Gliscor

Or how people nowadays suspect Obama for committing treason by aiding rebels in Libya that could be affiliated with al-qaeda the same terrorist organization that attacked us on 9/11. Even then it's been like a decade since that tragedy and we still haven't found Osama bin Laden at all. You'd think the U.S. Government would have to resort to a "Where's Waldo" tactic to track him down.

I say we get rid of the No-Fly Zone in Libya cause that's costing our country loads of money in Government Spending, withdraw all our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan and fend for ourselves for once. What's the point of leaving our troops there If Afghanistan isn't winnable? Why keep going? Iraq is a different story...

@Card Slinger J, after reading your post, I almost forgot what this thread's main purpose was. Something about a collision I think, not politics.

Who wants to watch the movie 2012 with me in the year 2013? Anyone?

Off topic: I had heard someone else say this before like a year ago, but thanks for reminding me of it. It actually got me a date with this girl I'm like in love with. ^.^

And I'm just restating this so it doesn't get overlooked: Does anyone know how many minutes it will miss us by?!?

On average 150.000 people day every day, whether a few thousand more die or not isn't significant at all. Perhaps it did cost a lot of money, but then again; who cares about that compared to the debts the US has to pay China. Just so you know..

Actually, comets have been striking Earth all the time, most however never reach the surface. Though some have hit us within the period of 65 million years ago till now. The thing is, they were either before our time or too small to even care about.

Uh 1000 is ALOT bigger then 150 so do your math >.> You don't care about "insignificant" deaths cause it isn't you >_< I know USA owes China I am not a moron >.>
