Official States Discussion Thread

well if you want a way of getting round rampardos then use scizor and Shaymin if you can set up quick enough then you'll have nothing to fear (well not much anyway)

^if your scared of tier 1 decks then I don't think drapion>all... it is a good deck though, just kinda slow and clunky.

Em, wut?

With my deck, I usually get Drapion Lv. X fully charged and out by T4. Anything beyond that means that I got a horrible start. :p

It's not slow and clunky, I find it fast and consistent. But that's just me.

T4 is too slow. Gigas sets up T2, Rampardos sets up T1, Kingdra sets up T1, Dusknoir T2/3. \=

Well, all technicalities, you could have Drapion itself out T2-3 with a good enough start. Drapion Lv. X could be as well, but that requires a lot more luck.

That T2-4 start is what makes it Tier 2, but it's still worthy of mention.

Even if you get it out before it's charged up, you're gonna be taking damage from the opposing Kingdra, Rampardos, etc. So by the time it does get charged up it'll be KO'd. But I guess you could always attach to a benched one.

That's what mine does. So long as you get Weavile, it's a guaranteed T2 full charge for Derail. Weavile helps a lot with speeding the deck up. And Darkrai will boost all damage to such an extent that Kingdra suffers a OHKO. Rampardos too. Machamp, Lv. X or not. The only one that it can't OHKO is Regigigas, unless you find a way to add moar damage.

You don't think Gigas will be seen?

* Amt shakes head in disappointment

Not really. Rampardos is just way too threatening for Gigas to survive against it. One PlusPower even kills the Level X with Snowpoint in play.

What DOESN'T Rampardos threaten?

OK, let me rephrase that:

Rampardos REALLY threatens Gigas.

While some decks do have trouble against Rampardos, Regigigas is like an ant on a freeway when going against it. Rampardos is just too rough for it to even have a chance to win.

Regigigas will also have to worry about Rhyperior, which has potential to be the BDIF. With Delcatty, Rhyperior instantly KOs any Gigas, all the time.

... Why is this just the states thread??? What about Canadians we have provincals.

But any who like Blue Thunder said Rampardos is going to very well threaten Gigas. But it would be nice to see people play Mr.mime to stop Rampardos.

^Rampardos' PokeBody says hi...

I don't think that Rampardos is going to do much. All you have to do is make sure that you can't be taken out by Mold Breaker.

Anything<Rampardos<Shaymin<Infernape<Kingdra<Rampardos.
Looks like States (and Provs.) are going to be solely about pairings.

Wow testing has not been going well. It's either that or Redshark hates me. I get picked apart in 90% of my matches, with my opening hands usually looking like this (Energy, Energy, Energy, Night Maintenance, Uxie, Energy, Time Space Distortion). I've had one game with Blaziken agaisnt the mirror do well, ending up in a win because of Pt Blaze causing a Burn KO while I OHKO'd a benched Claydol with the GE one. Eventually I'll get to Giratina, AMU, Ludicolo and more in depth on Beedrill and GG. But if provincials was tomorrow, I would just play Gigas and hope that amazing lucksackedness can get me through =P.

Good Luck to everyone else.
Oh and Ramparados=Bleh, I just had my GG stand up to it and then got into a position to win the game down 5-3. Come on...GG.

Edit: GG has been shinning as of late. AMU, Gliscor and Giratina have been removed from my choices, due to various reasons (AMU won't set up for me anymore, Gliscor is too fragile and T-Tar is basically a better Giratina). Though I have been finding nice progress with Beedrill and Tyranitar and somewhat GG. They right now are my Top 3 choices, with Blaziken in a distant 4th, and Ludicolo and Gigas left un-tested.

Rampodonk is going to be pwnage.

Rampardos > Rycatty > Leafmin, Magtran > G decks> Other (that I didn't mention) > Bad Decks (of course)

80 for one Fighting energy is amazing. No one can deniy it either. Sure he takes some damage, but it isn't terribly hard to get a second one out on the 3rd turn.

Isn't T-Tar going to be a top-tier deck?

IMHO, It should be. Palkia and Giratina can give it control, Spin Tail ends games and Grind can give you OHKO's. A good build even has like a 65-35 on Ramp

I recall there was some other pokemon that could do 80 for 1 energy...

Oh yeahhhhh, Kingdra.... I remember that card, the good ol' days... =/

Kingdra does 60 with discard to the Active. Benched doesn't count when Rampardos is full on doing 80 to the Active >__> I'll be playing Skuntank/Mightyena, which will get schooled by Machamp and Rampardos anyway, but I hope to have the surprise factor.

dmaster out.

What would be better, Kingdra donk, Maggy LvX, or Machamp donk? I have the cards for these, so yeah. I am considering Drapion LvX though.

The first 3 are Tier 1 while Drapion is Tier 2. At least, Drapion/Darkrai is. I'm not sure about Heavy Poison or Lockdown. Heavy Poison is slow and Lockdown is easily countered. >.>

It really depends on taste. I hate archetypes, so I go with Drapion. :D

I don't know. I just do. If I ever try to create an archetype deck (Machamp, for example), I'll have it built and have all the sleeves...then I take a look at it and quickly dismantle it. I just don't have the will to run what is considered the best. :\
