So, was everyone else. I understand I was a n00b at some point. But, now I'm a main fixutre of Pokebeach society ! (Man, this is making me feel depressed)

Wow, WPM himself called you a n00b. Must be your reputation when you were May and Manaphy or something. What about me WPM, am I a n00b?:p(I guess I am for asking that question. T_T)

ROFL!

WPM, D&P is not that bad. We've got so many more noobish members than him. He uses proper spelling and grammar. :O Fortunately, the little kiddy spammers, excluding me, do not stay for long.

This may or may not come as a big shock to everyone, but he Dawn and Pachirisu was not the only one he was refering to about being a n00b. :/

There was a thread like this sometime over the summer. "Inactivity and the source of it", I think it was called.

Yes, some of the people here are just young, and are just joining a forum for the first time. They just might not know that talking like, "hi evry1 im new", and posting in the wrong places is being n00bish. Or, they might be older, and they might not know it.

You know, it is very popular these days to talk like that, n00b talk, as we would call it. Many teens with text messaging on their cell phones and the such know only the language of the n00b. "hi (name) i go to movie tonit r u going to b there?" "idk, i hope". They might be migrating over from that, to something like this, a forum, where it's recommended, even enforced to use good grammar, spelling etc.

And, of course, some of them are just n00bs. :/

I'm glad someone mentioned Ketchup and Mustard. Yes, he was a n00b when he joined. Look at him now. He saw that members who used good grammar, spelling, etc., and who made the effort to post intelligent stuff were respected much more than others. So, now he's not a n00b anymore. He's a good member, and posts good stuff. A lot of people have noticed this in him, and I like it. He is wise: he realizes his own mistakes and errors, as well as others, and learns from them.

As we all know, though, that not all the people here are like that. :/

Anyways, in my opinion, we should make Pokebeach open to n00bs. Someone somewhere mentioned something about having a quiz in order to have people join. I disagree with that, as Pokebeach seems to be somewhat of a n00b-training-ground-place. If there aren't people in forums like these who are willing to help out the new people, then where will they ever learn? If one of these n00bs went to some place like....say, Smogon, and said their n00bish things, then, ZAP! BAM! They'd be gone in an instant. Get where I'm coming from?

Oh wow. Another thread about spam and the n00biness level at Pokebeach?

Of course they're here. They've ALWAYS been here. And they will ALWAYS be here. You want n00bs. n00bs eventually turn into regulars. The problem here though? The regulars are spamming. They aren't learning about becoming responsible, courteous, or they ability to post intelligently.

Thats all I'm adding to this pointless discussion.

QFT. Yeah, you guys still think KaM is a noob, but he's improved so much ever since he first came guys. You guys don't have sympathy. :O

QFT. KaM did change, so don't go around thinking that he's a n00b. While D&P doesn't post as well as most mods/veterans, he still does his best to post properly, post sensibly, etc.

IDK why everyone is digressing, we should stick to the topic. Again, I feel that this kind of topics (The 'Help PokéBeach Forums!' kind) shouldn't be brought up, unless the TC has came up with a solution to the problem. And since it has sparked many people to come up with good solutions (ie set a good example), this thread can be, to a certain degree, a success.

So, I stand with everyone- set a good example to n00bs. I can say that by doing so, n00bs will turn regular, so long as the person meets people who speak properly. Look at KaM; his stay in Team Eclipse gave him contact with intelligent post. Naturally, he would start to post like that.

Hmm, K@M changed, but IMO, into something a little different. Want to know? Steal my brain. =p I think he changed because of a post I made in a thread concerning him....

Anyway, if it's anywhere you want to find noobs, it's the Fan creations forums. Just go to a shop, fan-fic or contest and you find either a) a spammer, b) a noob, c) a "how do you make this?" post or d) more spam. =]

As I said before, I have a fair share of people who are noobs even if they think they contribute intelligent discussion. Absol knows a few of them, but we can definitely agree on one of them and he/she might be the worst of them. :/ SN knows a few as well, I think.

But, KM, it seems so hard to tell the newbies how to do, not to seem bossy here. They do it their own way. Sort of how everyone else did. But, yeah, every veteran was a n00b. But not an extreme n00b. It's only a matter of time before all the present n00bs become the main fixtures of society here on Pokebeach
I don't think it's time that turns n00bs into regular members. It takes more then that. Let's say you're a n00b. Okay, you may hate me for that. I am a n00b. I am here for over a year and am still n00b. Because I don't care if everyone hates me. I'll stay a n00b forever. But if I would have a wish to become a "better" member, I'd do my best and I may become one in a week.

My point:

You just have to do your best to turn into a regular member.

^[*HR] here, not double post.
In my post before, I was saying how D&P and KaM are the most terrible spammers on PokéBeach Forums (I didn't mean it like that, but you may get it that way). Well, I've got to say, you were really spammy once. But KaM, you actually turned into better member. I didn't notice it actually, but after seeing how protective some members acted for you, I went to look your last posts and ... they're right. You turned into better member. :) And the post you posted (the really long one) here, was + to your reputation, from my viewpoint. D&P: Yes, you were terrible as well. You are getting better, but slower then KaM. Some of the posts you posted in that thread, were just ... I don't know what to say. Not intelligent, one-lined post. But, have to say that you use proper grammar, which is +. (BTW: you shouldn't use space before next signs, but after them ?, ., !,...).

I hope you two didn't take my post before too seriously. No, wait ... I hope you did take it seriously, but don't think I hate you or something (I again apologize to KaM, for not noticing, that you (he, if you're not him) became much better member :))

:F

Well, this really went away from the topic, or did it? I forgot what it was..but it was probably along the lines of n00bs.

Anyway, eventually the "n00bs" realise that using grammar actually gets you somewhere and speaking 133t and using horrible grammar is just going to increase people calling you a n00b. You see most of the members here, and really the majority speak good grammar. Take this thread for example, I'm sure there wasn't a lot (if at all) posts which had poor grammar.

Eventually the n00bs will realise they are n00bs and change their devilish ways.

The problem is, they dont want do realise and accept the fact that they are infact n00bs. Now with Abhorsen leaving PokéBeach Forums, the mod population has decreased and n00b population will probably double before long =/

Well, hoepfully the very needed Star we'll find the Scroll soon enough. There are examples of n00bs realizing, but as you said they don't really want to. Argh, we could do with that new Mod, well I guess the mods do enforce it, I remember NN PMing someone about their poor grammar. I don't know if that still happens though..

We need to try and help noobs as much as we can so that they can learn to use proper grammar, spell correctly and abide the rules, otherwise, there will be trouble for them from mods.

That way, PokéBeach Forums can become a cleaner, less spammy, more friendly and less n00bish place. When I say less n00bish, Im talking about the n00b population, Im not saying this place is n00bish.

We won't be only making them non-noobs on Pokebeach come to think of it. Lol, imagine when these people grow up, get a job, a family, and he/she still goes around: "h0w"D u liek mai neu heircat?!?!?!?!?!" on a Chat program. :/ This would affect them in the future. English is a universal language, and if the "noob-language" is what they consider "English", then they are doomed. Honestly, would you want to go around in meetings, and all and showing a presentation with all these "languages"?

In my point of view, it won't only affect how we look at them, but it can affect their future. It has come to my knowledge that most jobs out there are depending on good English. If these people get used to speaking English in this way, bye bye. :/
